More
I’m a journalist with a deep interest in and passion for all things international, especially South Asia. I am currently working on a Master’s thesis on the Naxalite movement in India and preparing for a three-month reporting internship in Pakistan, which will be starting in late September 2011.
Outside of international topics and issues, I am very interested in the issues surrounding the American northeastern urban centers that are colloquially known as the “Rust Belt.” Having been born and lived most of my life in Buffalo, and having spent a significant time living in Michigan, whose politics and economy are dominated by Detroit, I have a close personal connection with the region and the issues it faces.
My other personal interests include Michigan State Spartan athletics, Buick automobiles, studying the Italian and Urdu languages, and programming. Perhaps surprisingly for a journalist, I have a significant background in software development from a part-time job that I worked at from high school through grad school.
